New MMA Ranking System

i have been reading the Sherdog Threads for a few years now and i saw one about a ranking system using a math formula. So i finally made a sherdog profile so i could give my opinion.

As much as it sounds like a great idea, I think it is impossible to determine one using a math formula. So I was trying to think of a way to determine rankings and i think the only way possible is to have like a poll after every major MMA event. Its really simple. All you do is vote for how you think the order should be. The fighters that receive votes also receive points.

EXAMPLE: For the Heavy Weight Division
say if your rankings looked like this...(this isn't my rankings im just making an example)

1. Fedor 10 points
2. Nog 9 points
3. Randy 8 points
4. Sylvia 7 points
5. Gonzaga 6 points
6. Kongo 5 points
7. Cro Cop 4 points
8. Werdum 3 points
9. Andrei 2 points
10. rothwell 1 point

And someone else's( sherdogs ranks) looks like this...

1. Fedor 10 points
2. Randy 9 points
3. NOG 8 points
4. Sylvia 7 points
5. Gonzaga 6 points
6. Andrei 5 points
7. Werdum 4 points
8. Kongo 3 points
9. Cro Cop 2 points
10. Rothwell 1 point

The points the fighters would receive is...

Fedor 20 points 10+10=20
Nog 17 points 8+9=17
Randy 17 points 8+9=17
Sylvia 14 points 7+7=14
Gabriel Gonzaga 12 points 6+6=12
Andrei Arlovski 7 points 2+5=7
Cheik Kongo 8 points 5+3=8
Fabricio Werdum 7 points 4+3=7
Cro Cop 6 points 4+2=6
Rothwell 1 point 1+1=2

So the ranking would look something like this...
1. Fedor
2. Nog
2. Randy
4. Sylvia
5. Gonzaga
6. Kongo
7. Arlovski
7. Werdum
9. Cro Cop
10. Rothwell

Do you guys get it? after everyone votes it will be the most accurate way to determine ranks. even if some nuthugger votes cro cop number one HW or something even though he isn't so good right now, it really wouldn't matter that much unless there was alot of retards out there.

There has to be like a short period of time to vote. I was thinking of having websites up that fans can go and vote. After all the points are tallied up the results get released. I was thinking that there should be like 2 or 3 different rankings. One being the fans vote and the other being like people from the MMA community.(Fighters, Judges, Analyst something like that)

I was thinking of something like college football rankings Associated Press, Coach's poll, and BCS are all different.

Tell me what you guys think? or just post your rankings on this thread and i will add up the points and then tell everyone the result.

I see what you're saying, but the problem is determining which Top-10 lists to factor.
