Who gets a LHW title shot if they win - Chuck, Jardine, Machida, Rashad, or Shogun?

After Rampage and Forrest face off for the title in probably July or August, who in this stacked LHW division should get the first crack?

All have good and bad points, so it is not gonna be easy after all the fights are said and done to grant the shot.

Personally, if Jardine beats Wand, he needs the next shot. That's 3 quality wins over Top 10 opponents (Forrest, Chuck, Wand), something I don't think anyone else can brag about.

What do you think?

I'd put Lyoto in the lead.

If Forrest beats Quinton and Chuck beats Shogun I'm guessing they'll give it to Chuck if only for the HUGE PPV draw it would be - possibly the biggest in UFC history. Chuck would have 2 wins over ranked opponents and would be deserving, although cases could be made for any of the guys you mention if they win their matches, too, especially Jardine.

If Forrest beats Rampage, then either Chuck (due to his popularity) or Jardine (to set up the rematch with Forrest).

If Rampage beats Forrest, then probably Machida (he has to get the shot sooner or later if he keeps winning) or Shogun (to set up a rematch with Rampage).

Either case Rashad IMO still needs more big wins.

Assuming he beats Tito, Machida easily. All the other contenders have some losses you can't ignore, or simply lackluster performances. Jardine lost to Houston, Chuck lost to Jardine, Shogun JUST lost, Rashad despite being undefeated hasnt been very impressive, then you got guys like Thiago Silva who are simply unproven. Machida IMO, but then again they DID give Forrest a title shot so who knows what that maniac of a matchmaker will do.

I am a big proponent of being on at least a three fight streak to get the title shot.

That would keep Shogun, Chuck and Jardine out

If they win their next fight?

Jardine would be on a 2 fight streak
Shogun would have only 1.
Chuck would have 2.

If Rashad, Lyoto or T.Silva win their next I wouldn't mind seeing them get a chance. I like the idea of an 'undefeated challenger,' on the off chance they beat Rampage the person will have a piece of that 'Fedor aura.'

Clearly, as Forrest is only on a 2 fight streak, UFC isn't as strict as I am.

There were like 4 or 5 guys that made as much sense as any other.
Had Shogun beat Forrest (which seemed like a given) he would've gotten the title shot.
Forrest beat him.

Also Forrest was likely the most marketable out of any of that mess of contenders, IMO.

It is all a bit confusing, however. The year should be interesting. If Rampage can hold the belt through 2008 it'll be extremely impressive.
