it is no secret that dana white is not impartial and he is somewhat bias towards certain fighters. since he calls some fighters his personal friends etc.
anyhow this thread isnt about bashing dana or focusing in on his fighter relationships. i wonder what you guys think on which fighters in the coming UFC does dana white want to win for either personal reasons (relationship with that fighter), marketing reason (X fighter is easier to market), or maybe even PRIDE vs. UFC clout (essentially whatever unknown factor it could be).
so here are the matchups:
1) Chuck vs. Wandy
2) Matt Hughes vs. GSP
3) Sokojdou vs. Machida
my take on it is:
dana wants chuck to win because of PRIDE/UFC clout, and of course dana is a friend of chuck's AND dana did put $250k back in 2003 for chuck to beat wandy in the finals. i am not sure that chuck will win this fight or lose it, but i hope dynamite happens between the two fighters.
dana wants GSP to win, because GSP is going to be more marketable than hughes at this point. hughes' ego may have gone too far in the latest ultimate fighter series on spike, and hughes' training methods are too 'old school' and traditional for the newer audience. for personal reason, dana wants hughes to win because of maybe some friendship; however, GSP is more marketable especially in canada and dana has expressed some interest into that untapped market for live gates.
and finally soko vs. machida is a toss up. both fighters i think arent on dana's favorite list; however, i think in terms of marketing dana is probably leaning towards soko winning because soko can speak english better (at least so far on tv) than machida.
i dont forsee dana giving either fighter a title shot, because i personally feel that dana doesnt like having too many 'foreign' fighters as champs. well let me correct myself. i dont think dana likes too have too many non-american fighters as champions or possible champions.... since the UFC's primary audience is america.

nothing wrong or racist about it. i know ppl in japan rather have a japanese champion too. anyhow that's my take on it. what are your thoughts?
