UFC loves the rematches, trilogy's, etc. But GSP never lost his rank, he just suffered an injury.
What do you think the UFC will do first in this case?

If Penn wins, I think GSP gets a title shot in November or December.

karo never lost his rank either... i'm not sure what they'd do though since if bj were to win, it wouldn't be the typical set up for a trilogy ala Liddell v Couture... only way I'd really be convinced a trilogy was comin up before a GSP fight is if there's a controversial stoppage, setting up the trilogy in a possible Ortiz v K. Shamrock kinda way...

sucks though, if BJ wins this next fight, and Matt wins the third fight, Matt will come out looking stronger even though BJ technically won the trilogy...which is why third matches for the sake of a trilogy should typically go the way of Liddell v Couture, IMHO of course...

I think if it ends in favor of Hughes...albeit controversial or not, Penn will go back to his original plan, which I believe was cutting weight to the lower division.

since gsp has already confirmed his title shot in december, i think your question is rather pointless. granted, that groin could act up again, and in that case a trilogy would not be out of the question. especially if the sept. 23rd fight ends in controversy.
