What are the official dimensions of the UFC Octagon?

The UFC website doesn't say, some google searches say 30' or 32', but that doesn't say whether it's a measurement of corner to corner or a distance between parallel fence segments.

Wikipedia says "a diameter of 38 ft, allowing of 30 ft of space from point to point," which, as far as I can figure it mathematically, doesn't make any sense at all, unless they are including the distance the octagon extends outside the fence...

Any help would be appreciated...

Yeah, Wiki is wrong. Distance from point to point would be greater than the diameter. My guess is that it has a diameter of 30' and about 32' 6" from point to point.

Neither of you know how to measure the diameter of an octagon. It's measured from opposing corner to opposing corner, not from side to side. So indeed, the diameter would be longer than the distance from side to side.

So when they say "from point to point", then they mean side to side?

Yes, and when I say from opposing corner to opposing corner...let me illustrate...

If one side of the Octagon is a 6 and the other is a 9 this distance from corner to corner would be the distance from the o of the 6 to the o of the 9 (thus, not straight across to a corner).

it's 750 sq. ft. i've heard goldberg say this. which makes it quite a bit bigger than the pride ring. which is why i like ufc better, nothing at all about fighters, it's just i think rings are for boxing.

MMAth is infallible. Gonzaga knew he had to land that nut-crusher or be destroyed.
