If he lets BJ attempt all the subs he wants in the 1st round, Penn will likely burn himself out- as long as he defends the subs. The second round SHerk can start the grind down. Towards the 3rd or 4th round, I think Penn would be too exhausted to defend.

Sherk doesn't finish. He's 4-2 in the UFC with ONE FINISHING WIN...and that was a cut against a scrub.

Only way Sherk wins is 25 minutes worth of lay and pray

It will be because Penn had a bad burrito and wasn't 100% or his dog got fleas or he was checking out some hot chick in the 3rd row and got distracted. BJ Penn doesn't lose, he either wins or something happens to make him not win.

By the way, I'm not saying Penn would make any excuses if he lost, but everyone online will.

Everyone bases this idea of Penn being exhausted and getting finished on the Hughes fight. Problem is, he wasn't exhausted, he was hurt. You can argue that point in this way, either A.) you believe what BJ says B.) you're calling him a liar. You can choose on that point.

Also, BJ isn't gonna be going for a ton of subs I don't think in this fight, and Sherk will be defending from the bottom or getting beat up on the feet for at least 2 rounds. I personally don't think he'll be all that fresh either after the abuse he'll have to wade through in the onslaught in the first 2.

Maybe while Penn is ducking under a punch Sherk's short muscled arm will clip Penn at the base of his neck and the back of his head causing Penn to wobble and Sherk will finish it up with a few well placed strikes and some GnP causing Penn to tap out due to strikes. I know it sounds like something like that could never happen, but for some reason I think it's possible

Didn't Hughes do it the second time?

with that said - I'm pulling for BJ to finish him and Sherk is no Hughes

it'd be nearly impossible or shocking if PENN were the one to win a decision lol

No, BJ separated a rib...like I said, you can call him a liar and say he gassed, or believe him. I don't think he lied, and the fact that he did a complete 180 between rounds in terms of performance suggests an injury, not gassing.

I think Penn could take the first 3 rounds and from there all he has to do is not finish or be finished.
