We need to allow knees to the head on the ground

This is especially needed in the US mma scene.

What would be better if there could be a competition bureau similar to the NFL.
Usually, rules are changed when one side (either offense or defense) becomes too dominant.

Especially in the UFC (but not exclusively), knees to the head should be allowed for those fighters whom successfully defend takedowns (like what happened at bushido, misaki vs kang). It would kinda take away from the preceived advantages that wrestlers now enjoy. It would also reduce that awkward phase of very little action when a fighter sprawls out and doesn't really do that much.

Like other major sports change their rules periodically to make it a better and more flowing game.....mma will eventually need to do this, though it may to years aways.

If no athletic commission will legalize kneeing to the head of a grounded opponent, I suggest bringing in a yellow and red card system.

If you have an option to notify a fighter that 10% of his fight purse will be deduced unless more effort and action is made, stalls on the ground will be far less frequent.

BUT imagine someone trapped against the cage taking knees, not being able to get out. or maybe someones head against the cage getting kicked with nowhere for the head to go

Yes I agree. It is unfair to many fighters not to allow knees, not to mention it can make for a boring fight which isn't fair for the fans or for the UFC. It would also encourage fighters to pass guard or to avoid laying on bottom for too long. I don't like the fact that Pride doesn't allow elbows but I would be glad to see the UFC trade elbow strikes for knees to the head on the ground!

I agree 100% with the botched takedown argument.

It will probably take years for this change to be implemented, though. MMA is still pretty misunderstood here in the US.

No knees to the head on the ground DRASTICALLY changes the game. In Pride, North/South is a devastating position. In UFC, it's just a transition. I wish the athletic commissions would reconsider but I don't think it'll happen.
