Hell, had Rampage connected that cleanly on Chuck at 71, I might've expected to see Chuck be put out completey for the first time.

That punch by Rampage would have cleared out most of the heavy-weight division IMO.
Rendered a Water Buffalo incontinent etc...

no, he wouldn't have been knocked out by that left hook in 2003. his chin has only been an issue for 2 years. wanderlei has taken many hard shots over the years. he's been dropped many times by tito, saku, oyama, hendo, hunt, quinton, and mezger, and he always recovered. clearly, his age has led to a deterioration of his chin and reflexes.
he's always fought too recklessly, but he never really had to pay for it until late in his career. wanderlei, more-so than any other top-ranked mma fighter, has lost his edge. i've been saying for years that he hasn't looked the same since the hunt fight. that was the last fight where the Axe Murderer showed up. he looked dull, even in his wins against yoshida, nakamura, and fujita. he had two of his toughest possible matchups (crocop and arona) and the shittiest performance of his career against dan.

his eyes were not closed and he countered saw wanderlei stop and throw a hook, straight combo wich the first punch knocked him the fuck out. squinting maybe but not more.

TS is probably right. That punch was perfectly timed, very accurate, and very powerful. Fair play to Rampage.
