UFC's Revamped PPV Schedule
I haven't seen this talked about much since UFC 145 was postponed. There's going to be an 8 week gap between UFC 144 and 145 due to the rescheduling of the latter event. What I find even more interesting than that is that UFC 146 won't happen for another 5 weeks after that. As of the current schedule and rumored events 5 months will pass from UFC 143 to 148. To put that in perspective only 2.5 months passed between UFC 137 and 142.
Obviously, some of the gaps between PPV events can be accounted for by numerous events on Fox, FX, and Fuel. I know there's been a lot of outcry over the past few years about the UFC charging too much and too often for a watered down product. Do you think this -- fewer PPVs with more free cards -- is indicative of a trend, or is it just a temporary lull due to a number of champions and big draws being injured or unavailable? If it is a trend, will buyrates go back up toward 2009 / 2010 numbers?

One way or another, they have 30 some odd fight cards in a calendar year. Naturally some months will be more saturated than others, and some will be left with maybe a free one or two. I don't think this a trend, but just how scheduling anything goes without an entire committee to put together a schedule months and months in advance, such as in other pro sports leagues.

True, but a two month gap between PPVs followed by a 5 week gap when an organization has rarely had more than a 3 or 4 week break in the past couple of years is pretty substantial. I personally hope that it's a trend, but until it's established I'll remain realistic and assume it's just a nice, temporary break for my wallet.

How many Fox, FX, and Fuel cards are in there? That can affect the buys as well. Oversaturation.

Right now there are 5 scheduled and UFC 148 on July 7. It could also affect buys positively by gaining new fans.

Will be weird having a full month between Alves/Kampann and Lil Nog/Mauler.
But I think it's good I'd prefer they be a bit more spread out. I tend to have people over or go to someone's house for all the fights but it would be nice to have some weekends off here and there.

I know I'm looking forward to it. Having the whole month of March available due to not throwing a UFC party will be quite nice!

I also like the fact that they are starting to put some shows on Friday and then the Wednesday one for Sanchez/Ellenberger. Would love if the Fuel TV cards were like that, my friends are fans but not big enough one that they could give two shits about those.
I much prefer this to the way it was before.
