Ufc = Nfl

After being on Sherdog for a while now, I just don't understand why so many people cannot accept that the UFC should be the only major promoter. I usually read threads, rather than post on them, but this is something that just boggles my mind. With the start of M-1 on the horizon, so many people are saying "I hope that they can compete with the UFC". Or you have the others saying "Pride will never die". Why? People don't think that the Canadian Football league or Arena Football should take over the NFL. The NFL is the only place anyone would expect a great college player to go to. If Tom Brady left the NFL to play in Canada, the whole world would think he is crazy. So, why is MMA any different. There is no reason every top fighter should not be in the UFC. Hell, I even heard Josh Gross comment that the UFC should not have every top fighter. How else does anyone think we are supposed to see the best fights? I don't want to have to watch Fedor fight shitty opponents like Hong Man Choi.

Flame away!

It's simple, to a lot of people when PRIDE was around, the UFC was NOT the clear cut best. The NFL IS the best American football league. Also, UFC doesn't have ALL the best fighters on the planet. A ton of them are still in other orgs. Until they're all under one roof, like the NFL, then the argument continues. I'm sure the rules and settings have a lot to do with it also but that's another topic.

There is a lot of resentment that the UFC beat Pride.

I don't really care either way...if there is more the one big time MMA orgs then the more the better but if UfC is the only Big org around then whatever.

I'm going to throw this one out there...

The UFC DOES, RIGHT NOW, have the best MMA fighters on the planet. Everyone who isn't under a UFC contract is over-rated or CORRECTLY rated, as not being good enough for the world's premier organization. IMO there are only a handful of fighters who could make a UFC PPV card, who are NOT in the UFC right now, but it is NOT a given whether or not they would contend or win a title.

Off the top of my head, Fedor (though, IMO, he is not the top HW people think he is), Aoki, Melendez, Gomi, Kawajiiri, Frank Shamrock, Vitor Belfort, Matt Lindland, Josh Barnett and Babalu Sobral (I realize he's gone from the UFC indefinately, but he still is good enough).

Seriously, the fact is, the UFC IS the NFL of MMA. It's the best, and people who don't want to admit it are in denial.

I too want all fighters under the same roof. The NFL had to deal with crap like the USFL that took away a lot of the top college talent like Hershel Walker, Jim Kelly and Steve Young. It folded after 4 years, but it is still 4 years that those guys could have been playing in the NFL instead.

Right now the UFC is the closest to having all the top fighters and is by far the most accessible. No reason to not want them to get everyone other than spite.

No, Dana is not a billionaire.

You don't have any clue what you're talking about, do you?
