UFC needs to have GP tournies...

i know i know, the NSAC doesnt allow same day fights, im sure cali doesnt either, and ill go ahead and assume whatever other states they have sanctioning in are the same as well. besides only the final is same day and so were only creating one extra event by not doing that.
now the reason why it should happen; people love tournaments. we saw crocop fight and beat barnett twice, yet watching them fight in the finals was fucking brand new. shogun and arona would be a good fight to watch in a single matchup, but when it was for the the finals last year it just creates more substance to it. look at how much people get into tournaments for other sports, it just creates more excitement.
apply that to mma and not only does it add more to the fights, but it seems to hype the fights and fighters up more. when someone loses in a tourney they dont quite fall off the map as bad as when they just lose a single matchup either.
i think this would be huge in the ufc for the heavyweight and light heavyweight divisions at least, if not for all of them. instead of constantly scrambling for someone to fight the champ after a couple of matchups that noone knows, in a tournament you end up with a guy that has some credibility. just imagine how much differently things would be if they just took monson, vera, mir, pe de pano, kongo, silva, arlovski, and gonzaga and had a tourney, winner fights sylvia. it would create a ton of hype for the winner vs sylvia fight, and the guys that made the semi finals would be hopefuls for down the road because even though they lost it doesnt seem to hurt someones career as much as just losing a single match up.
for lhw have tito, babalu, forrest, sakara, bisping, rashad, lambert and jardine, winner fights chuck. just think of it hypothetically before dismissing it as stupid

NO NO NO NO AND FUCKING HELL NO

GP's are a stupid waste of time. UFC puts their top guys against each other already without needing a fucking tournament ladder to force them into it.

Not to mention if you put these guys all into a tournament to get a shot at the winner, that means there's no legitimate shots for however many months the GP is happening for.

until very recently there havent been strings of title shots with only a month or 2 in between anyway and they wont be able to maintain that for long. after chuck fights tito who does he fight next? after sylvia fights monson who is next?
also like i was saying it gives more credentials to a fighter. it keeps people from bitching after someone gets their ass beat by saying things like "well he didnt deserve that shot anyway!"
i guarantee thats what people will be saying if monson loses to sylvia and hell its understandable, he has wins over hinkle,pe de pano, and perosh and then gets a title shot.
now imagine if those were the opponents he beat but in a tournament format. noone would question it if he loss because it creates a sense of credibility.

They did a small tournament once for that exact belt, it ended in a Penn-Uno draw that basically killed the division.

I wouldve liked to see this over a long course of time. They have enough talent to do it but instead they just chose two guys to fight. Atleast it doesnt kill the potential of future PPVs by having young prospects get a loss early on in there career.

GP's a waiste of time because that won't have top fighters fighting eachother? Then please explain the Pride 2003 & 2005 GP and the K-1 WGP? All K-1 events suck if they aint tournaments or the Final Elimination.
