Monopoly is never good. I hope and think elite will be a huge competition to ufc. As it is right now i almost rather watch elite then UFC. (just almost though! since UFC got a lot of fighters i want to see)

They don't have the HW champ, MW champ, and they might not even have the LW champ. I think the only solution is a worldwide sanctioning body and co-promotions. UFC is only the promoter they are not the institution.

They have a degree of autonomy, thus we see differing levels of success with each team ranging from enormously successful to relatively unsuccessful.

If you wanted to and had an unlimited amount of money, could you start an NBA team?

Answer: no.

That makes it a monopoly.

I can't take Zach Arnold seriously he writes to cause a stir. He's trying to build the Fishman up to be more of a threat than he is by reminding us that UNLIKE IFL and Pro Elite HE has connections in the Entertainment Industry and in Vegas. Oh realy? The IFL backers have strong ties to the Entertainment industry but not the fight industry and Gary Shaw....Did he forget about Gary Shaw? He may have done a little bit with the Fight Entertainment Industry and Vegas in the past, call it a hunch.

So do different fighters in the UFC. That doesn't make the UFC any less a single organization.

No I don't think they are monopolies.

yes, because back in the day the NFL (when it was he NFC) wasnt the only football org around, and the NBA wasnt the only basketball org either. They bought their competition (or their comp closed shop) and they now, are a monopoly.
