UFC LW Div.=Deeper Than Deep

The UFC WW Division has enjoyed its tenure as the most consistently stacked, fiercely competitive and highest-quality division in the UFC. UFC WW division is pretty deep.

I got excited when I saw that Stevenson, Sherk and Florian were moving down to LW.

Then the list of UFC LW competitors kept expanding with Yves Edwards, Spencer Fisher, Sam Stout, Melvin Guillard, Mark Hominick, Josh Neer, Gurgel, Winman, et al.

Right when I thought I heard it all, the UFC announces that the man the LW division was built around, Jens Pulver, is returning and BJ just announced that he's dropping down to LW.

And the new UFC contracts are being or have been made W/ Franca and Ruediger.

That division may be so deep that it's bottom-less.

One the latest UFC unleashed, Spike played Fisher/Stout and Scherner/Vera back to back. The contrast really allowed me to see that the agility and speed of the LWs is one of the most captivating aspects of MMA (Vera/Scherner looked like they were fighting in slow motion after Stout/Fisher).

The depth of the WW division will not be able to compete and the LWs will rule.

Imagine if Caol Uno, Josh Thomson and Din Thomas come back...

Yep, here's a list of their current LW's (don't see why Neer should count, he hasn't fought at 155 in the UFC, fought his last fight at 170 and is scheduled to fight his next fight at 170):

Yves Edwards (record)
Spencer Fisher (record)
Kenny Florian (record)
Hermes Franca (record)
Melvin Guillard (record)
Jorge Gurgel (record)
Mark Hominick (record)
Roger Huerta (record)
B.J. Penn (record)
Jens Pulver (record)
Gabe Ruediger (record)
Sean Sherk (record)
Joe Stevenson (record)
Sam Stout (record)
Matt Wiman (record)

Send a message via AIM to CrstlSnail
Jon Fitch has said that Thiago Alves could realistically move down to 155 lbs and be successful there. Any thoughts on that?

Sudo would be a great addition. Now that Kid's leaving, Sudo might want to make a run at the Hero's belt. Anyone know why Sudo dropped out of the hero's tourny?

Alves may be good for LW, but I actully think that Fitch is as good of a WW contender as Sanchez and Burkman...
