UFC does NOT have Anderson Silva

Anderson Silva has reiterated his status after the UFC ran a story on their official website claiming the 185-pounder had signed a multi-fight deal with the company. The story appeared on April 22nd, the same date Silva knocked out UFC veteran Tony Fryklund at Cage Rage 16 in London, England.

Silva held a seminar in Reading, England last week and openly discussed his status, “I have another offer from Cage Rage, K-1 has also offered me a contract for a Kick Boxing fight and the UFC has also offered him a contract”.

how about that...UFC jumping the gun.....hhhmmmmm

Where'd you hear this? Could you provide a source, please?

Even if Cage Rage had offers for Silva, it would not negate the possibility of Anderson Silva inking a multi fight deal with the UFC. He might have a deal worked out with the UFC where he can fight in Cage Rage while fighting in the UFC. They allowed Lee Murray to fight in Cage Rage, after all.

Well if K-1 really wants him then CR and UFC can stop hoping.

Regardless, I think we're going to see him in the UFC. It makes no sense; what good would the UFC do by prematurely promoting Anderson Silva? The casual UFC fan has no idea who he is. It seems to me that they'd only hype Silva on their webpage if they knew as a fact that he was fighting, and wanted to familiarize the casual UFC fans with him so they'd know who he is come fight time.

I'll just wait and see what comes of this story.

Wow. That'll make the UFC look pretty stupid if they announce on their website that they signed Silva and it turns out not to be true.

I won't say anything about the logic but if's and but's don't apply to the MMA world. Pride, UFC, whatever. When a major football team ( soccer) announces something then it's usually true but in MMA, a strong rumour can often turn out to be completly false.

He or his manager must of agreed to the deal atleast verbally...Why the hell would Joe Silva (the guy who signs people) act like he has him locked up if he didn't. Even Dana White is running around giving quotes like he's already signed. I need another real source besides fightopinion.

It's definetly not like the UFC or any other org. to do this.
