Heath Herring + Elbows = ???

Herring looked ticked off against Jake O'Blanket b/c he couldn't use the ground knees. In the N-S he really just looked like he wanted to stuff Blanket's skull down into his torso.

I wonder though, if he's going to be able to effectively add elbows to his arsenal.

If he could, and comes back in the same fight shape he used to be, he could give Nog some serious problems with modified "safer"/conservative GNP for points.

It's not that I really EXPECT it to happen, but it makes you wonder what the fights btwn them might've been like under the unified rules in their prime.

Herring doesn't have anything that can beat Nog. His standup is weak, his submission game isn't anything special, his takedown defense is non-existent and his takedowns aren't very good. And he's gotten steadily worse since the first time they fought, while Nogueira is pretty much the same fighter. I don't see any way that Nogueira loses this fight. Unless Nogueira just completely freezes and chokes under the pressure of being in the UFC, then he'll dominate Heath for the 3rd time.

I just watched Herring's fight against Yokoi from PRIDE, and he caused some serious damage with the knees on the ground. He also hit Yokoi repeatedly on the top of the head, which shouldn't be allowed, but oh well.

Yeah that was one of Hering's signature moves in Pride, he really loved those ground knees. Honestly...just get a dominant position and start blasting away with knees...doesnt matter if they're blocking, knees hurt like hell.
