UFC 77: What is so hard about match making in a timely manner?

I'm looking at it from an outsider's point of view but I don't see what is so hard about creating match ups in a timely manner.

I would expect that by the time UFC 76 was completed that the complete fight card(not just 3 bouts) would be signed and sealed for UFC 77.

Right now all the have advertised is:

Silva vs Franklin 2
Vera vs Sylvia
Burkman Vs Petz.

Are they just holding out on us or is the fight card not finalized with 3 weeks left until the show?

Is if is the latter of the 2 I'm very disappointed. Fighters should always be ready to fight but should get ample notice for an upcoming fight.

Whats the general consensus on this?

I'm pretty sure, you have to deal with contracts, lawyers, agents, commissions, etc.

It's alot more complex then just saying these guys will fight.

The first few PPV's after TUF season 1, They were throwing PPV's together that people wanted to see. Now, fighters being too picky, protecting fighters, could be a few things.
Then again, UFC.com is the last website to post the fights online.

One thing is for sure. Exclusive contracts makes this 100% easier. The beastman eastman pefromed in another org. prior to this ufc 77 got hurt and now he's out. Thus sending match makers at the ufc brass scrambling for replacements. Now who thinks fighters should fight in other orgs when they are signed already.. Exclusive contracts keeps fight cards in tact only leaving injury in training the only reason to have to re arrange and or replace fighters at the last minute.. Without exclusive contracts we wont know who's fighting until like a week or two before the fight.

Or you let the fighters be the brand and have agents match up the fights. Then you hold fight nights with said matchups and cut out the org all together ;)
Dream matchups happen, fighters get paid, and we know who is fighting.
