Which top fighter beat the best competition?
Who of the top fighters has met AND BEATEN the stiffest competition. I'm a big Pride fan and don't know UFC as well as Pride. I know many people are going to say Fedor without even checking any stats one more time. But, guys, please do the final check on fighter finder before answering. And of course, you should consider the time the fighters met. For example, the 2000 Royce is totally different than 2006 Royce. I'll start by listing some fighters' top victims:
Takanori Gomi: Rumina Sato, Dokonjonosuke Mishima, Ralph Gracie, Charles Bennett, Jens Pulver, Luiz Azeredo X 2, Jean Silva, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Hayato Sakurai, Marcus Aurelio, David Baron (European Shooto champion, record 10-1 by the time), Mitsuhiro Ishida. He also beat 14 other Shooto fighters in a row meeting some serious competition.
Fedor Emelianenko: Ricardo Arona (LHW), Renato Sobral (LHW), Semmy Schilt (was only 22-10-1 by the time), Heath Herring, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira X 2, Kazuyuki Fujita, Mark Coleman X 2, Kevin Randleman, Mirko Filipovic, Mark Hunt, Matt Lindland (WW)
Wanderlei Silva: Guy Mezger, Dan Henderson, Kazushi Sakuraba X 3, Hidehiko Yoshida X 2, Quinton Jackson X 2, Kazuhiro Nakamura, Ricardo Arona, Kazuyuki Fujita
Kazushi Sakuraba: Carlos Newton, Vitor Belfort, 4 Gracies by the time no Gracie had suffered a real loss, Guy Mezger, Quinton Jackson, Kevin Randleman, Ken Shamrock
I would say Gomi has beaten the toughest list of competition. None of the other weight classes have the same depth of talent than the LW - not by far, I think. At some points Gomi has really had busy time with all the skilled fighters coming at him. Can you find someone equal?
