I have to actually agree with Tito for once. I am kinda biased since I played hockey for over 10 years but hockey is one tough sport. Just look at the major jr leagues in Canada. You have 17 year old kids dropping the gloves. Hockey is the only bare knuckle fighting in the US. Also, how many sports offer a camp that teaches kids how to fight? Just google Boodaard brothers hockey fight schools.

Hockey players are stupid tough, almost to a fault, but in MMA that'd really just mean they'd take more of a beating before the fight got stopped out of pity.

Hockey is way tougher.


People don't realize you're getting hit by someone going 3x faster than on their feet that means 3 times the kinetic energy is being transfered.

The reason they are less fatalities or serious injuries is because there is very little head trauma involved most hits are body to body contact so you may break an arm or a rib or crack your hip but you receive less concussions although they are still plenty of concussions to go around (ask Eric Lindros).

Also the hockey puck is extremely hard and travels at speeds up to 110 mph and one of those to the dome without a helmet would easily kill someone if they got hit in the right spot.

Not to mention the way the boards are made there is a lip where the glass is and if you're around 5'7-6' and you get hit on the boards your body bends over the lip and you can easily bruise ribs on any hit.
