Tito Ortiz/Chuck Liddell thread #1532
Why are we all so quick to count Tito out?
Sure he's my favorite fighter so I'm a little biased but I'm a little confused as to why nobody gives him a chance against Chuck.
Chuck is a decent striker [in terms of technical striking] with immense punching power and a decent and highly overrated sprawl. The only decent wrestlers [QJ, Tito ,Randy] to try to take Chuck down were all successful, aside from Tito. Tito however, did not even try to take Chuck down. He had 2 weak attempts. One where he shot and got slightly clipped and stifled his shoot and the other where he PROBABLY could have had Chuck down...but it looked like he half-shot and then kinda worked up to get close to Chuck to swing. I don't know, I'm not a fighter.
Tito held his own against Chuck too. Up until the eyepoke, Chuck was basically winning by default. He was not pummeling Ortiz, he was not hurting Ortiz, and up until the eye poke, NOBODY was looking dominant.
If a Tito with less-confidence and a stupid game plan could do this well against Chuck, why can't an extremely confident, non-injured, smart Tito defeat him?

This is not directed to you micheal but...
....I'm so sick of Tito fanboys. Everytime I see one of their threads they say that Tito will win BUT THEY HAVE NO FUCKEN IDEA HOW. They dont explain what Tito would do to hurt Chuck or to make him gass they just say Chuck will gas if Tito can survive the first two rounds.
NEWSFLASH!
If Tito does not throw leather and beat Chuck to the punch Rampage/Couture style then he wont be able to make Chuck gas and then take him down. Tito is afraid of getting hit especially by someone like Liddell which is why he wont go toe to toe he will stay on the outside like the first fight.
Tito has ZERO killer instinct. He's never finished anyone not named Ken Shamrock since July 2001 when he finished Elvis Sinosic. Out of all these years he hasnt finished any legit contender and now these idiots are telling everyone that he will somehow finish Liddell much less take the belt away from him somehow by decision. LOL
Tito is going down and they know it. At least Chuck goes for the finish. Tito needs to be able to go for the finish otherwise he's not getting that belt. Tito is not that kind of fighter he doesnt take any risks.
Chuck by brutal KO RD 2. Bet on it.

who is counting tito out? I think its a pretty good consensus here in the forums that if tito has a better gameplan than in the first fight, that he stands a very good chance.
i agree with you for the most part except about chuck's takedown defense. because it really is top level, and should be the deciding factor in the fight.

The only way Tito can take it is if he can withstand the initial onslaught and get Chuck to the late 4th or 5th round.

Some good points. I just want to see it happen, like now. I think I'll be putting a little cash on Tito for the upset.

i think tito can win this, but there is more of a chance of chuck winning. i want tito to win to give a little shuffle into the lhw division, and want to see tito fight babalu for the title in 07. but i dont know, it wont be an easy task for tito.
