Tito Lay N Pray???

I'm not exactly sure where Tito got labeled as a LnP fighter. Can somebody explain???

Tito vs. Bohlander-- not lay n Pray
Tito vs. Metzger 2--- definitely not lay n pray
Tito vs. F. Shamrock--- greatest fight in UFC history
Tito vs. Wanderlei--- maybe lay n' pray, but Tito and Arona have shown that that's pretty much the only way to beat Wandy without getting lucky and knocking him out in the first 9 seconds, can you blame him for executing a game plan that gets the W?
Tito vs. Kondo--- no lay and pray, submission victory
Tito vs. Tanner--- definitely no lay and pray
Tito vs. Matyushenko--- might have been lay and pray, but Matyushenko is a HW and a russian national champion wrestler. Once again, Tito utilized an effective game plan that might have been the only way to get a victory. Can't blame him.
Tito vs. Kenny 1--- definitely no lay and pray
Tito vs. Couture--- got whooped
Tito vs. Liddell--- got KTFO
Tito vs. Cote--- The only real Lay and pray match for Tito. Tito had no excuse for this showing other than he was fresh off his two worst performances and probably didn't have his head in the game. Still, no excuse for this one.
Tito vs. Vitor--- Probably the most underrated fight in UFC history. One of the best fights I ever saw. Just because Tito didn't finish Vitor, doesn't mean the fight wasn't great. Sometimes when fights go the distance, it's because the fights are evenly matched, and great.
Tito vs. Forrest--- another good fight. No lay and pray. Tito was injured and still made Forrest look silly in the first period and got the better of the stand up in the third. Not a boring fight by any means.
Tito vs. Kenny 2--- one doesn't finish a fight in 1:18 by laying and praying.

As you've pointed out, everytime he faces a dangerous fighter, he Lay and Prays. And in some of those other fights, he tries to LnP, he just doesn't manage to do it. The point is when he gets the takedown, he doesn't really do anything from the top other than throw a few glancing elbows, hoping to open a cut(i'm not counting the Shamrock fights, because Tito could win those by whatever he wants).

That's what i hate about Tito, he usually doesn't try to knock the other guy out with elbows, and instead blatantly tries to open cuts. It's just so obvious, it's sickening.

Cote wasn't that dangerous, and I see that as his only true lay n pray fight. He definitely didn't lnp vitor or Frank Shamrock, and I think those two are pretty dangerous.

Ok, maybe you have a point. I think he did his fair share of LnP in the Shamrock fight, and Cote was dangerous in the sense that Tito was coming off 2 losses, and a third would have been devastating.

But overall, maybe he doesn't LnP as much as people make out, but that goes for a lot of fighters. It's a similar situation with Arona. Other than his recent fight with Silva, how many fights can people mention where he lay and prayed?

I think that Lindland Lay N' Pray would make more sense.

He did lay and pray on Vitor. Luckily for Tito, Belfort gassed.
