Pretty good on the feet if a little on the reckless side. Not too bad on the ground either. He's really young yet so all I can comment is potential here. He'll probably break the top 10 at some point in his career, beyond that who knows. The reason his popularity has spiked around here is the Houston Alexander win. A lot of the newer fans who are relatively unseasoned in regards to combat sports naively considered Alexander nearly indestructable, totally overlooking the massive holes in his game. By beating Alexander, Thiago picked up some of that naive adoration.
As it stands, I believe he's headed for a loss against Rashad Evans. Should he defeat Rashad I will be very impressed.

Thiago Silva is a BJJ fighter, that's to start. But he fights with reckless abandon like he has to prove something. He has very heavy hands, but his stamina is the big question mark. We know Rashad can go a full 15 (even 25 when it comes to it) and still be fresh. We've seen Thiago gassed against Drwal and that was only mid-way through the first. He fought a very cautious Houston Alexander who did nothing that he said he was going to do. He went into the clinch and then let Thiago take the fight from there.
Personally, I like him as a fighter and I hope he beats Rashad. It'll be good to have a fighter with his potential continue to move up the rankings in a division that is beginning to thin out a bit. As the big boys continue to fall to one another, the guys who are right there will finally break through the glass ceiling and become contenders.
The winner of Rashad/Thiago should be matched up against Machida if he beats Tito

He's scheduled to fight Rashad Evans at UFC 84, the same night Tito vs. Machida is going down. Does anyone expect him to win?
Also, I think Thiago is training with the Macaco Gold Team and Gabriel Gonzaga. It looks like he'll be well prepared for the fight.

I think he's a little overrated. Ever since the Alexander win he's been hyped up like the second coming of Shogun. (And we all know how that turned out ><)

And before that win, how hyped was Alexander? Thiago just took Alexander's momentum, that's all

I agree, he gave both alexander and drwal their first lost. I never saw the Drwal fight, but I saw the Alexander fight. If he was gassed, than I guess his conditioning is an issue, especially going against Rashad who's not going to be an easy one to drop. Like someone else said, he can go the full 15.
I personally like Thiago Silva, I think he has a lot of potential. I doubt he will win this fight, but if he does than he's definitely a LHW contender in my opinion.
