Thiago Alves p4p - really?

Weight cutting isnt the point. P4P means, if everyone on that list weighed the same, say all of them 200 pounds, who would be the best? P4P just means taking the weight advantage (or disadvantage) out of the picture and looking at their skills.

On that note, Alves is pretty damn good, though I would wait to see him fight for a belt before I called him top 10 P4P, but thats just me.

this is not difficult... p4p means "how would he do comparably to other top fighters if they were the same weight" it's like fantasy mma.. does he match up with Fedor if they were to fight in the same weight class.. not meaning if he puts on that weight... but hypothetically speaking... I dig Alves.. he has made a fan out of me, but he cuts an awful lot of weight.. he probably COULD fight at LHW and doesn't.. it's not like it would affect his performance to fight at middleweight.... not to put him down, but I think it messes up the P4P nonsense in this instance...

and GSP has said he cuts from 185.. that's at least 10 more lbs than Alves... apples and oranges... Thiago almost cuts from two weight classes up.

Good point. I don't care how much weight fighters cut. If they can make weight, then so be it - it affects them during the fight if they are cutting too much anyway...
