Weight cutting is irrelevant in this case. I was surprised he made the top 10 P4P list considering he's not a champion, has never been a champion, and likely will lose to GSP when he gets his title shot. I give him credit for his last 3 wins, but I'm not sure if he deserves to be considered top 10 P4P yet.

My question is how much weight is someone allowed to cut to be considered a welterweight, or any other weight class? Brock Lesnar cuts like 20 or 25 to make heavyweight...

No, he cuts more like 10-15. Brock said on the MMA Live post UFC 91 wrap up show that he weighed himself before he fought Randy, and he weighed 277. Brock was bigger when he was in the WWE and trying out for the NFL(290-295), but the MMA training keeps his weight down in the 275-280 range.

you guys should understand that rankings are another word for public opinion.

but, at this point, it's a little hard to put out a top 10 p4p list out there so i won't really complain too much.

My problem is that can someone who cuts that much really be top 10 p4p?
I have no problem with him cutting weight, his loss to the 155 gatekeeper in Spencer Fisher is what makes me think he needs to do more to impress.

I dont think that Alves is a top fighter period. He can cut whatever weight he wants to but it is not going to help him climb the ladder for best pound for pound fighter in the world.

dude as long as they make weight, they can be considered pound for pound in their weight class. is that hard to understand?
