Thiago Alves p4p - really?

Now, I am not one of these guys who is going to whine about how Alves cuts too much weight and its ridiculous etc. Weight cutting has been part of the sport since there have been weight classes, and I recognize weightcutting as a skill, etc. I am OK with the fact that Alves cuts 25+ lbs (supposedly) to fight at 170.
My problem is that can someone who cuts that much really be top 10 p4p?

Nobody is going to agree 100% with p4p rankings.

But, I personally wouldn't have Alves in my top 10.

Good fighter but he is not really a true welterweight. Maybe if he fought at middle weight for a bit and was successfull. But not now

And he's not the only big weight-cutter on the list.

If you can cut the weight, you can fight in that class. Part of fighting is cutting. Every fighter does it, some are just better than others.

gsp cuts somewhere in the same ball park range of about 20 lbs. So, its pretty much a double standard, aint it

I believe he's worthy of being a top 10 P4P fighter, his performances have been outstanding as of late and he continues to improve significantly each time he's in the Octagon.

The amount of weight he cuts to fight at welterweight isn't a factor IMO. GSP cuts around the same amount of weight as Alves does and he's an undisputed top 3 P4P fighter.

My question is how much weight is someone allowed to cut to be considered a welterweight, or any other weight class? Brock Lesnar cuts like 20 or 25 to make heavyweight...
