TheTakedown Breakdown: Dana White Fires Back at Gary Shaw

CREDIT: THETAKEDOWN.NET
LINK: http://mmatakedown.blogspot.com/2008...gary-shaw.html

Thanks to Yahoo! Sports for getting these comments from Dana White regarding Gary Shaw's recent comments towards the UFC about losing pay-per-view buyrates now that there is competition.

“Gary Shaw is (an expletive) loser,” White said. “We beat our pay-per-view numbers from last year. Do you hear that? We beat our pay-per-view numbers from last year. We just don’t brag about it because we don’t talk about our business in the public.

“And if we were getting competition, it’s not coming from EliteXC and both of the people who are watching their shows. This guy is a low-level bottom feeder. He didn’t like MMA a few years ago, but when he finally couldn’t make money at boxing any more, he came over to this sport to try to leech money out of it.“

THETAKEDOWN BREAKDOWN: It's a love/hate relationship with Dana White. Sometimes the guy just aggravates me and other times I love what he has to say. UFC is at the peak of it's popularity so for Gary Shaw to make a statement like other MMA companies are stealing their pay-per-view share is ridiculous, mostly because most fans don't even know other organizations exist and if they do they don't follow them, nor would they shell out $30 plus for an event.

Didn't Dana get into MMA because he failed in boxing as well? I agree that Shaw is only in it for the money but who isn't. The thing i don't like is that Shaw really doesn't have a love for the sport, so ultimately when he starts losing big money he will fold.

Dana only got into MMA because he failed in boxing too.

Dana is just self conscious. He needs to learn when to shut his mouth and take the high road and let the UFC's numbers talk for themself.

He's very low class.

Dana was thinking about promoting boxing, but then saw a UFC event, which is allegedly when he talked to his friends the Fertittas about buying it.

The thing is .... Dana White got into MMA when it was a sport that was dying with a lot of risk onboard. Gary Shaw has jumped in because the UFC has blown up, when previously he bashed MMA.

Shaw's the hypocrite here.
