i'll agree with you here...
thales is a warrior, no doubt...but there should be a rematch, because the "elbows" point deduction was bullshit, and nate ended up losing only because of point deductions- of which the knee was a valid deduction and nate's own fault...
but i do not see how leitas can celebrate the victory like he did afterward...he got dominated for 2 rounds...

Like Lietes told me, he really felt that illegal knee and wasn't aware of what even happened. It changed the course of the fight and previous to that he was putting a hurting on Marquardt.
Nonetheless, Thales doesn't want a rematch. He really wants to move up and go for the belt.

"Thales Leites: The fight was an excellent fight. I was in great shape, great condition to fight. I was really looking forward to victory all the time, but we had some problems during the fight like the illegal knee, and an illegal elbow."
Too bad, I had just become a fan of him after this fight.
But lying to cover up a bad ref call because it helps make you look more like the victim does not fly with me.

Disgusting, what a douche bag move to do to another fighter.
I'm sure he was frustrated but that's no excuse.

well.. its a fact that the fight was only the first round.. which Thales won.. so he won the fight. After the massive illegal knee.. Thales thought Nate was gonna win if he said he couldn't continue.. he was so out of it.. he was in the moon or mars or something.. Thales won fairly..

Franz: Would you take a rematch?
Thales Leites: I don't think so. He did a lot of illegal things to me.

Oh, god. I HATE hearing crap like this. He talks about his warrior spirit, but wouldn't do a rematch.
Let's be honest here. Nate was working him over and if not for some silly miscalculations on Nate's part, he would have beat him and beat him decisively. He was knocked two points and still only lost a split decision.

I suggest that you read the i-view again. The knee should have been a DQ. Leites was practically out and thought he was being asked if he could continue or else Nate would win, not disqualified. Oh, and when you beat a fighter, specially in a stacked org like UFC, its kind of stupid to immediately give a rematch sinceyou have only to lose

I call BS. He said he could continue because he thought Nate would win because he (Thales) didn't know the rules, not because he was close to being unconscious.
And, yeah, he's smart to not take a rematch because Nate would demolish him the next time out. If I just got worked over that bad with my opponent getting two points taken off and STILL only won a split decision, I wouldn't want to take a rematch either. It's a death sentence.

Yet you don't feel the same way about Werdum not accepting a rematch with Vera when their fight ended controversially?
And the fact that any judge could have not given Leites the first round proves they don't know how to judge MMA and shouldn't have even been there. Leites dropped Marquardt with a right hand and had him mounted for a while, all Marquardt did in the first was land a punch that rocked Leites for a few seconds before he recovered.
Marquardt lost because he's a cheater.

The only reason he said he was OK to fight again it´s because he thought they would have given Marquadt the win. If he knew that Marquadt would be disqualified if he couldn´t continue fighting, I think he wouldn´t wanna fight because he was rocked big time.
Even though he kept on fighting Marquadt broke the rules two more times and still didn´t win. Thales moves up, Marquadt moves down, and no rematch.

do you live in Thales' head? ...how the hell do you know what he was thinking or he would do???
...this is the kind of fighter-nutthugging that makes every sensible poster on here vomit
