why did he change his mind? ...why didn't he take the alloted 5 minutes to rest?

So now you're asking for me to go inside a fighter's mind and know what he was thinking which was the same thing you dissed another poster for doing?
Nothing was controversial about the win, Marquardt committed fouls and was deducted points for it, I find it funny how many posters on here complained about Cheick Kongo not being deducted any points for his repeated fouls, which would have allowed Crocop to get a win.
Are you really gonna try and say "Evidenced by not wanting to take time to regain himself" as proof that the knee wasn't that bad, when at the time he said that he couldn't even balance himself to stand still and was wobbling all over the place so badly that Herb Dean called the doctor in to check him? Have you never seen boxing matches when a fighter is given an standing 8 account and asked if they're ok and they always reply "i'm ok, I'm ok" regardless of whether or not they are?
Here's a possibility for why his story changed between the post fight interview and now, maybe he's actually watched the fight since that time and could see that he wasn't himself after the knee and now he knows how badly it really effected him. He did take the alotted 5 minutes or did you not watch the fight? He said he was ok but Herb gave him the 5 minute period anyway and told him "I'm gonna give you time" even tho he was about to come out to the center of the Octagon while he was still wobbling.
Bottom line is Marquardt lost because he was cheating in the fight and I don't know why so many people wanna defend him for cheating. He lost cause he broke the rules, deal with it and move on.
