Striking Advantage: GSP or Condit?

We all know who has the advantage on the ground, but what about on the feet?

Let's assume GSP doesn't go with the likely gameplan of taking Condit to the ground over and over. Looking at GSP's last performance, he was very rigid and mechanical, relying solely on jabs and superman punches -- very few combinations. That said, we've seen GSP do much better and he has been training with Freddie Roach for a while now.

Condit's record speaks for itself, though I feel like he will be hamstrung on the feet due to fear of being taken down. That means less flying knees and other high risk attacks that have given him success in the past.

Thank you for proving you didn't watch that fight.

Condit will be weary of the takedown, wouldn't surprise me if GSP outstrikes him.

How so? GSP's striking against Shields was some of the worst we've seen out him. Granted, it may have been due to the eye poke, or perhaps just out of respect of his ground game. Nonetheless, the striking wasn't even close to his best.

I'd say condit has better striking for sure. Gsp striking is very good but not devastating like condits

Both guys can put people away. GSP's shown to be more tentative in the striking department so I'll give the advantage to Condit. But that doesn't mean GSP can't put him away. Its just unlikely that he will.

Actually the reason Condit gets taken down so much is because he is very comfortable fighting off his back. He knows with wrestlers he is gonna get taken down therefore he is more aggressive standing against them

Condit has never faced a wrestler with the top game BJJ that GSP possesses, once GSP puts him on his back he will realize how little he will be able to accomplish, I doubt he will be so comfortable off his back from that point on.

It's going to look completely different is all I know. GSP likes fighting at the same range as Condit. If Condit is looser early he may have the advantage for a little bit. But as it goes on, I'd expect GSP is still better. With the threat of the TD, not to mention the actual TD, he should control the fight.

I agree with Gsps top game dominance and control but I wouldn't be suprised if Condit catches him with some elbows from off his back that may irritate him while he's in Carlos' guard. Doesn't say too much but he nullified ellenberger and Rory with those strikes from the bottom. They both started covering up when they were in his guard
