Spin city
Let's address the posters handling the spin for the Sanchez fixed fight debacle.
Anyone who claims Alessio didn't do enough to win the fight is either an idiot or a liar. Probably the latter. In an attempt to salvage any belief you have in the UFC's legitimacy.
Allessio blocked just about every offensive attempt by Sanchez. Sure Sanchez got him down once and then watched Allessio roll right out of it. Allessio peppered Sanchez throughtout the whole fight making Sanchez's face look like Evan Tanner's.
Sanchez looked like a complete idiot. He tried time after time to do a takedown but was unsuccessfull. He looked PATHETIC doing it too. He actually tried to throw some punches too. I would estimate 1% of them landed. Though it was masterful technique he was using. Run laterally at the opponent throw a couple of weak punches that are blocked or miss, THEN RUN TO THE SIDE.
Allesio didn't do enough to win, huh? Because he wasn't going for the knockout into the teeth of Diego's offense? You really have to be an idiot to think like that. It's the Michael Jordan rules. Defenders were not allowed to play defense on MJ. If they did, they were immediately called for a fake foul. But if they backed off and gave Jordan his room, he would scorch the defender. The NBA cheated for Michael Jordan in the same way the UFC cheats for Sanchez. Actually include some other TUFs too. But Diego and the TUFs aren't MJ, not in a million years.
But wasn't Diego on his opponent's back for 2 minutes? That's right he was. Anyone claiming Allessio didn't do enough to win, really has to avoid this issue.
Diego was on a man's back for over 2 minutes. WHILE HE WAS STANDING AND WALKING AROUND THE RING. And Allessio didn't do enough to win??? Diego had his back for 2 minutes and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING...... NOTHING!!!!!
Diego only tried to do a couple rear naked chokes during those 2 minutes... and a couple of weak punches in the last ten seconds. Diego didn't do anything, despite having a guy's back for 2 minutes, while the other guy was expending the energy of keeping both of them up.
The reality is Allessio darn near broke Sanchez's arm while he was on his back. Allessio got him in unorthodox arm bars repeatedly. Sanchez had to do everything he could to try and get his arm out of danger.
What happened in the fight? Sanchez tried take down after takedown. He couldn't get anything done. He threw punches that Laila Ali would have eaten and laughed at. But Allessio chose to block or avoid the few that actually were on target. Sanchez finally got the guy in the worst position imaginable for 2 minutes. But only attempted a few rear naked Triggs. Oh, he did throw in a couple of weak punches in the last few seconds to give the judges something to run with.
What did Allessio do? He managed to block just about every single offensive attempt from his opponent. He peppered him throughout the fight with punches that busted up Sanchez's face. When Sanchez got his back... this man proceeded to walk around the ring with his opponent on his back and talk to his corner. For 2 minutes he carried the weight of his opponent. In a position where he is most vulnerable, he spent the majority of the 2 minutes putting Sanchez into unorthodox arm bars, almost broke his arm too.
So Sanchez wins unanimously? He spent the fight making ridiculous attempts to takedown his opponent. He threw weak punches that were either off target or got blocked. He ate many punches turning his face into Evan Tanner's. He got his opponent into the worst possible position. Yet, Diego barely attempted any moves. He spent the majority of his time escaping arm bars. He threw in about 3 weak punches at the bell too.
Allesio lost? He blocked every takedown but one (escaped it immediately though). Depsite facing takedown after takedown he escaped. He either blocked or avoided every punch of Sanchez's. He busted up Sanchez's face with a nice display of striking skills. He landed the majority of punches he threw. He got caught and gave up his back to his opponent standing up with 2 minutes left. So he walked over to his corner with his opponent on his back to get advise. He followed the advise and put his opponent into arm bar after arm bar.
Reality: Allessio won, period. Any attempt to suggest other wise is fraud.
At a time when the UFC is starting to actually go mainstream, they throw it all down the drain to prop up a chump up as the goods. It will be their undoing. We'll see if I ever watch antoher UFC event. I'm sure I'm not the only one either. I think a lot of first time fans just realized they were watching WWE.
I read a lot of threads on this site and point the blame at the fans. The fans are responsible for keeping the sport honest. But instead many appeared to have crawled back into their shells and decided to drink the koolade. Weak.

Get bent, ass. A win is a win is a win is a win is a win is a win is a win is a win is a win is a win is a win is a win. So either suck it up and get back into bed with Alessio, or stop watching, get off the forums and back on Allesio's nuts. He is a good fighter but dude, he did NOTHING except hide and slide. This wasnt an Aikido match, it's MMA.

Even though I don't agree with you, I'd say you do have some well-thought out articulations. The bottom-line is that it was a close fight to call, and anytime there is a decision, there's always going to be controversy surrounding it.
That's why fighters never want to leave it in the judges' hands because it's always going to be a reflection of a 3 judge-panel "opinion"

The fight was very close and could have gone any way. Sanchez won, so everyone stop bitching about it.
