I won't be surprised if he ends up getting the first shot. If it's true the UFC offered a title shot to both Florian and Hominick against Sherk and they turned it down, it's obvious to me that they want to make a champion first, promote Pulver as a coach on TUF5, and then have a 'unification' match (which is far easier to hype and market than saying.... 'well... he is the champ...sorta.... former... never lost... you'll see') against Sherk.
They're going to want somebody who isn't Pulver to step up for the first title shot against Sherk. A Fisher/Sherk fight would certainly be entertaining, as long as Fisher and Pulver are both ok and understand they'd probably end up fighting each other next year if Fisher would win.

IMO, if you are in a weight class, you should be willing and prepared to fight any fighter in that division, teammate, best-friend, blood-brother, whatever.

But then again are you willing to fight your best friend. A man you sweat and bleed with five days a week at least all day.
Nobody knows what it's like to fight a training partner until they have to do it. So for everyone who sais they should fight whover please realize that it's hard to beat the shit out of someone you care about very much in front of millions of people on live tv and thousands of people in attendance with the possibility or ruining your friends career

You mean like Wand and Shogun, or Tito and Rampage, or Randy and Arlovski, or...
Lots of top tier fighters are known to train together. It's a fact of life in a good gym.
