Mirko is a very big HW, don’t be confused. Most Heavyweight fighters don’t need to cut weight to fight because they know they won’t reach the limit (some of them have to, like Lesnar). This means most Heavyweights fight at their natural weight, being able to perform with the same speed and power as they trained for.
Mirko Cro Cop does not cut weight, he fights at his natural weight. And by all means he is a very light HW fighter. Below are his last 11 fights, and how much he weighed. It is amazing that he has had an average weight of 221 pounds. His maximum weight was 228 pounds almost 3 years ago and his minimum weigh has been 215 pounds, TWICE.

Of all the opponents he fought in his last 11 fights, 8 out of them outweighed Mirko. However, 2 out of the remaining 3 opponents were only outweighed by Mirko because they were fighters from lower weight classes. That means that Mirko has been outweighed 88.89% of the time in his last 11 fights (8 out of 9).
• Alistair Overeem weighed 241.8 pounds (-15.9 pounds disadvantage)
• Tatsuya Mizuno weighed 210 pounds (+12 pounds advantage)
• Cheick Kongo weighed 231 pounds (-11 pounds disadvantage)
• Gabriel Gonzaga weighed 243 pounds (-18 pounds disadvantage)
• Eddie Sanchez weighed 229 pounds (-6 pounds disadvantage)
• Wanderlei Silva weighed 218 pounds (+5 pounds advantage)
• Josh Barnett weighed 247 pounds (-24 pounds disadvantage)
• Hidehiko Yoshida weighed 226 pounds (-10 pounds disadvantage)
• Ikusha Minowa weighed 181 pounds (+34 pounds advantage)
• Mark Hunt weighed 250 pounds (-35 pounds disadvantage)
• Josh Barnet weighed 261 pounds (-33 pounds disadvantage)
Cro cop has an average disadvantage of 9.26 pounds per match, which is very bad,, but this is only because he fought 2 guys that weren’t even on his weight class (Wanderlei and Ikusha Minowa), if you remove those open weight bouts he has a 15.65 pound disadvantage.
He looks big as a HW, however he somehow doesn’t have much weight and if he could cut 10-15 pounds he could easily make 205. EASILY. Guys like Anderson Silva walk around 220 and cut to 185, with proper strength and conditioning coaches, Mirko could cut to 205 easily.
In this division he could exploit his size and build to outwork and outmuscle any of his opponents, Mirko already looks big in HW, in LHW he would be a monster. His strength will allow him to shrug off many takedown attempts and escape from nasty positions with more ease, allowing him to keep the fight standing, and he has a pretty good chance of being successful with his build and his skills at this weight class.
Another person that weights little is Fedor. However Fedor has a much higher average weight, and walks around a little bit heavier than Mirko. Mirko has a HW body and is able to fight at LHW. Why not????
Has he never thought of this? Has he talked about this? What do you guys think?? Discuss.
