Sorry, but BJ never put GSP on his back. GSP went to his knees against the fence; that's as far as it went.

I think people just like to ignore it...it makes for better argument if you can say the opponent of a Penn or a Fedor actually does at least one thing better. In most cases, both Fedor and BJ are simply better at every aspect of the game. For BJ, it's his wrestling, the same goes for Fedor...people are always saying, "a big wrestler that can strike is what will beat Fedor"...the problem is, Fedor is a phenomenal wrestler, and has amazing ground control and balance...if he ends up on the bottom, it's probably because he realizes "why fight for the top position when I'm just as comfortable on the bottom, and will lose less energy?"

This might be a fun thread to re-visit in a week or so.
I think Sherk has a better chance than people are giving him and I think it's comical that so many people are counting him out.

Exactly my thinking. I still look at the Diaz vs. Sherk fight as a roadmap of the Penn vs. Sherk fight. Sher's td's are not as great as people make them out to be. BJ will hop on one leg all day or just sprawl and then take his back.

That was my point as well.
I've said it before; If BJ doesn't finish Sherk in the first 7:30 (1 1/2 rounds) or hurt him badly in that time, Sherk will win. For all the talk of a "new BJ" I've heard before I won't believe it until I see him not sucking air in the 3rd round.
I make BJ a favorite, but if anyone wants to give me 4:1 on this fight I'll take Sherk any day.
Also, Sherk has a decided strength advantage against BJ, but so did Hughes, GSP, and Machida.

How will Sherk win? Where will Sherk win? He's only beaten 1 top 10 opponent and he hasn't finished a top guy in his life unless you count 18 year old Karo.

You're a nuthugger. if you weren't you would have the exact same sentence in your grappling section. Sherk has never been submitted. Bj is only going to be effective if sherk can't negate it.

I don't remember him taking GSP down. Stevenson got taken down by Mishima and Pellegrino as well. Penn tagged Hughes and stuffed his shot, that's how he took him down. Could he do the same to Sherk? Sure, I just don't see him double-legging Sherk right out of the gate.
