Sherdog...Not Smart Business

I would love to see a response from someone that actually works for sherdog. Let me start by saying I love the site and the forums here, but the bottom line is Sherdog needs to swallow their pride and fix this bullshit with the UFC/Dana.

If Sherdog goes out of biz tomorrow the UFC will be every bit as strong as they were, your clients will just migrate to another MMA site and be just as happy. This feud with the UFC is similar to all of us idiots arguing about bullshit here daily. What you guys are doing is serious business involving tons of potential profits for both Sherdog and the UFC, but the Sherdog big wigs instead want to argue like school children. The bottom line is UFC is bigger than Sherdog, without Zuffa purchasing the UFC Sherdog would not exist today, or would be a shitbag site without any fans, instead you are riding the coat tails of the UFC and directly getting cash put in your pocket becasue of the UFC, any other reason you tell yourself is just a fantasy.

With that said, you guys are making decent cash while being blackballed from the UFC, if you were smart you would mend your relationship with Zuffa, set your personal differences aside and put Sherdog into a position to grow leaps and bounds, and become a legitimate news outlet, this obviously would open the flood gates of cash to sherdog. You can actaully get your press credentials back, you can sponsor fighters, get sherdog.com on the ring and posts and get more fans to come to your site, and grow your exposure, instead whoever is making decisions for you guys is making a fatal error. You push buttons that not only dont make anything better for you, but actually worse. You are digging your grave with a spoon, keep doing this shit and in a few years the UFC will align themselves with a sherdog competitor and put them in a position to swallow Sherdog.

Sherdog and UFC are first and foremost BUSINESSES, everyone knows there is no room for emotions when making business decisions, which irionicly anytime Sherdog reports on the UFC business its filled with nothing but emotion, therefore giving the impression that business novices are making these decisions.

In short you guys at sherdog need to get your shit together and mend the problem with Zuffa, swallow your pride, and unlock the door to the real potential of your great site.

Sherdog being blackballed from the UFC is equivalent of ESPN being blackballed from the NFL, think about the reprecusions that would have to ESPN, why Sherdog doesnt think its a major issue for them is shocking to me.

Well said, but intelligent, thought provoking posts and threads tend to get ignored on this board.

You're right, but it's too late.

Instead they chose to burn the bridge, piss on the ashes, then nuke the site where the bridge used to be.

It has become very obvious that the management are a bunch of childish idiots. Absolutely ridiculous that they would alienate the worlds best mma client.

Does anyone who works for Sherdog have any journalism credentials?

If so, the blabbing of TUF spoilers would make real journalists (like the ones who go to jail instead of revealing sources) want to puke.

I dont think its too late..its never too late. There can be things done to fix this bullshit. First of all I dont know if Sherwood gives his blessing on all articles before they get posted, but one thing that I am sure would get one step closer to mending the situation would be to fire josh gross and take the position that the bosses at sherdog do not condone that childish bullshit. Gross is a great writter but in the business world great minds get clipped all the time for making one stupid comment, becasue a more important msg goes out with the firing someone that is doing something that is hurting the business potential.

Then Sherwood can slowly attempt to bring sherdog and the UFC back together, and put his ego aside, becasue after all this isnt about Sherwood vs Dana, its about making money, and for all of you that say dana should mend the bridge......why would he do that, sherdog has always and still does ride the coat tails of what zuffa created and all they can do is slap them in the face.

It is the exact same reason that salesmen fail. They become complacent. Once they hit a certain income level they become comfortable and lose touch with the hunger that got them there in the first place.

The powers to be at Sherdog are making good amounts of money and think that they will be fine instead of pushing the envelope with good business decisions and making it even better and making even more money.

Truely successful people are never satisfied with where they are and always strive to do better.

It is sad and pathetic to see what Sherdog is doing and what it could be doing.

Thanks for the post TS, you hit the nail on the head.

Agreed, if they wouldnt be making money I bet the relationship with the UFC would be fine, however I am not sure that its complacency that brought this situation to sherdog, I think its ego. its seems they have the attitude I dont need you to survive, which is just stupid becuase this is a mma news site afterall, no UFC=no News for sherdog

ESPN would be a good example again it would be like ESPN loosing NFL, NFL, MLB, NHL, what would there be news to report on then?
