The Rules, Couture, Ref Bias etc.

IMO to many people get hung up on the rules or their interpretation of them. In light of Randy's victory and how so many people are saying the ref was biased or it should have been a NC etc. I think perhaps some should realize the rules are there mainly to protect the fighters and to get States athletic commission sanction.

There rules are not there to ensure some guy wins or doesn't take a loss on a technicality. That is why it is most often left up to the Ref. This isn't baseball it's MMA and it's a fight. Saying the RC vs GG fight should had been a NC is like saying the Hughes vs Penn fight should have been a NC because Hughes broke BJ's ribs unintentionally. Shit happens in a fight the rules are not to save you from every little nuance they are their to HELP protect you from serious injury if possible. Lets remember this sport started with no rules lets not get hung up on using the rules to decide fights except in the most blatant intentional violations

In the RC GG fight bitching about some rule for an unintentional broken nose from a slam is ridiculous. Where is the honor in taking a NC because of that? Now if it was an intentional head butt that would be different. I am no fan of Herb Dean but he made the right call and it was his call to make. So of you want to get technical about the rules then since it was up to the refs discretion there is nothing to bitch about since all was perfectly within the rules.

In a championship fight one better be prepared for anything if they want to be the champion. Randy dominated even without the broken nose no supposed rule technicality can change that. GG perhaps would have been more competitive if he had not got his nose broken however he should have avoided getting slammed and it wouldn't have happened.

Give GG another year or two and he will be a real force but he was just not on Randy's level last night.

why didn't they break to clean up gonzagas face? don't they normally do this when a fighter gets blood all over his face and can barely see? and what's up with repositioning the fighters to the same spot? i havn't seen that in UFC...is it because randy had a good position on GG? so they didn't want to give his position away? and the stalling on the cage? don't they usually break and restart?? I smell fighter bias...

The rule was enforced. It was up to the ref ACCORDING TO THE RULES so no your wrong. If you read all my post that is why it is up to the ref so we don't start basing wins or losses on rule technicalities BS. And it is a fight when people are trying to take your head or arm off.
