Royce and A Silva

I remember the UFC talking about A Silva's 9th consecutive win in the octagon as breaking Royce Gracie's record of 8 consecutive wins.

I think they should at least mention that Royce really had 11 consecutive wins in the octagon. I mean, not being able to continue after Kimo shouldn't be a considered a loss. He may have come out and his corner may have thrown the towel, but it wasn't because of anything Howard did.

A Silva is now on 10 consecutive fights. So, he is on track to beat Gracie's unofficial record of 11 consecutive wins.

Gracie's loss is even less legitimate than Fedor's loss. I mean, can you really count it as a loss if they made Howard fight Jennum to win the Championship? Why didn't Howard win the Championship by default if Gracie "lost" the fight to him in the Finals?

I think A Silva would agree with me that he has to get past 11 to be genuinely unprecedented.

I agree.

And yet I find myself not really caring.

Well, thank you for having enough care to at least respond with agreement...

Throwing in the towel is losing. Sakuraba would have fought, Gracie lost the fight before it began.

if he lost, then why wasn't Howard awarded the Championship since it was in the Finals instead of being made to fight Jennum for the 50k?

I'm a firm believer that a post can be made in complete nonchalance. I don't agree with the camp- "you cared enough to post in this thread, HAH!"

To me it's just like a passing remark in everyday life. My posts are a couplet of complete nonchalance with the occasional hint of sarcasm.

As an aside; In the Okami fight, the rules where not explained to Silva properly, so he assumed he was fighting under PRIDE rules, that probably would have made his record 14 consecutive.

What you say is probably true...BUT

I am not talking about all win streaks, just the win streak in the Octagon.
