The Revolving Door That Is The UFC Heavyweight Title
In the UFC, this is the belt that has probably changed hands more frequently than any other. I don't see that trend ending soon, either.
While Gonzaga and Couture is a good match-up, even Randy admits that it is a tough fight for him. He tends to have trouble with bigger grapplers because moving that extra weight around for five rounds saps your strength. I remember watching him run out of steam live in Conneticut against Barnett a few years back, and I think that could very well happen again.
If Gonzaga does win, I see Nogueira managing a decision win against Gonzaga.
After that, it would seem like Timmy is up for the title again. Nogueira has terrific boxing skills but Sylvia's reach is a bit too much, I'm afraid. And if there is one weakness in Nogueira, it is his take-down ability. As much as I know a lot of you hate hearing this - and will probably violently disagree - I see Tim beating him.
After that, maybe Crop Cop will be back in line. Anyway, that's my take... I'm sure a lot of you will have different ideas about how 2007-08 will go down but try to keep the reponses to a reasoned debate... we're trying to raise the bar on civility in these forums. Thanks.

now that they've seen what a nightmare it is to try to market sylvia to fans, matchmakers at zuffa will never let him anywhere near the belt again

So enlighten me on how Nog is going to win a decision over Gonzaga? You admit yourself that Gonzaga has better wrestling than Nog, and we all know that Gonzaga is extremely dominant from top position(2006 Mundials BJJ champion, this is the world cup of BJJ). Do you think Gonzaga is just going to let Nog pepper him with jabs for 5 rounds? And if Barnett could get a kneebar on Nog, I'm sure Gonzaga could--who got a calf-crusher on PDP in ADCC.
I think CC will take out Sylvia before he gets a title shot. And CC always has the puncher's chance of beating Gonzaga but I think Gonzaga has his number. I see AA as the biggest threat to Gonzaga because of his size/power/take down defense.

Why wouldn't Gonzaga just take him to the mat and elbow him from the guard until Nog can't see straight?

"Live in Connecticut"? Did you watch it on PPV in Connecticut? Because the show was in Vegas.
Anyways, Gonzaga is the worst kind of opponent for Randy, a bigger grappler who hits really hard (Gonzaga has more (T)KO's in the UFC than he does submissions)
