Recent Impressive & Bad Performances
Recently there have been some very impressive wins for fighters who have seemed to keep their opponent off balance and out of their game plan the entire fight, and on the flip side guys who were taken out of their gameplan or came in with a really bad gameplan in the first place. Here are a few that come to my mind:
1.) Randy Couture v. Tim Sylvia - everyone thought Sylvia had a clear advantage in the striking realm with his long reach, but Couture dominated every facet of this fight by keeping Tim off balance, and unsure of what he was going to do - Outstanding gameplan.
2.) GSP v. Hughes - GSP absolutely dominated Hughes by completely neutralizing Hughes' strategy. Set Hughes up perfectly by using leg kicks, and then going up high when Hughes looked to duck and grab his leg - picture perfect execution of a gameplan.
3.) Matt Serra v. GSP - Another picture pefect execution of strategy. GSP seemed to not know what was coming the entire fight, and Serra really made his shots count when he saw an opening.
4.) Anderson Silva v. Rich Franklin - Silva totally controlled Rich with his Muai Thai, and never let up with the punishment. Franklin came in with a very bad thought - in that he was looking to stand, do some dirty boxing, and clinch - Bad Idea.
I haven't got to see many of the recent Pride shows, which is why these are all UFC, but what are some that come to your mind?
