For real this time...

Can we seriously stop talking about fighter pay? There are three reasons we should stop talking about it (in no particular order)

1. Capitalism, Supply and Demand, whatever you wanna call it. If the day comes when these guys decide that fighting is not paying the bills, they have every right to quit and go work a 9-5. Imagine for a moment, if there was no minimum wage. Many businesses would try to pay their janitors 11 cents per hour. They would quickly find out that no one wants to do that shit for 11 cents an hour at which point they would continue to offer more money until the jobs were filled. If the UFC offered undercard fighters $50 bucks and a case of Milwaukee's Best, you would see a lot of guys go elsewhere, but they don't, they do that job because that is what they feel it's worth and if that's not the reason they're doing it, that takes us to number 2.....

2. They are doing what they love. I'm not a fighter, I don't claim to be, and although I could probably fuck up 90+ percent of Sherdoggers because I've determined thats how many of you are whiny bitches, I've never trained a day in my life. And although I've never trained in my life, I know for a fact that most of these guys fight cuz they love it. They are getting paid to do what they love. Nobody does data entry because they love it. Nobody hangs drywall cuz they love it. But these guys train and fight cuz that's what they were born to do. Not only do they get to spend all day doing what they love, they paid for it. They aren't greedy, they don't care, so why should you? And if they do care, then they need to remember it's a business. Nobody put a gun to their head and made them sign. Last I checked, there aren't any 17 year olds fighting in the UFC. They are all adults, and if they aren't happy with their contracts, they shouldn't have signed them. I'm not happy I dropped out of college and the best job I can get it helping morons with their cell phone service, but it was my decision and I have to live with it....so do they.

3. IT'S NONE OF OUR FUCKING BUSINESS

3.

Explain to me how wanting to know how much a fighter is paid is no business of a bunch of people who are obviously very involved/interested in the sport.

Have you ever considered the idea that some people who post on this sight might be involved with the MMA industry, and therefore fighter salaries are very much their "business".

actually no...I don't know of any situation in which how much any particular person makes is anyone's business besides that person or their managers.

I think we should all hope for them to make more money but unless we

a- buy alot of their merch and pay way more for tickets and ppvs

b- only watch mma in which the fighters are all (not just the ex ufc and pride guys) making a shit ton of money

then we really have no room to bitch

i don't think its a bad post, but you're entitled to your opinion...

i think it's a little insulting to fighters, who are adults, that anonymous people are debating about how much they make, as though they aren't smart enough or in control of their own careers enough to handle that themselves...

as for my statement, it was not to be taken literally as i'm sure the actual number I could take is much lower, although I do doubt more than 18K sherdog users actively train...and if they do, well then super, i'm wrong, my point was that most are whiny pussies...

So how do you propose taxes should be calculated?

I think users just feel that they should make more than what they do, and I'm sure that fighters don't mind that they care enough to talk about it.

some of the fighters pay is awful. 10k or 35k for a fight when someone is a defending champ doesn't make much sense. takes someone very twisted to pay a fighter that.
