The REAL reason why Fedor would beat Sylvia

Aside from Fedor's skills, smarts, gameplans and record...

Who is always there when Fedor is training?

His brother Aleks who is 6'6, 253 lbs. That's a 2 inch, 7 lb difference from Sylvia. Aleks is probably stronger than Sylvia, isn't a bad striker (3 vicious knockouts all under 30 secs), and trains in Sambo/Judo as well. I've seen footage of Fedor easily handling his brother in boxing, Sambo and Judo. So I seriously doubt Sylvia would give Fedor ANY trouble at all if they fought

Plus, Sylvia has had 2 quick and disappointing losses which made him look like a can. One against Frank Mir, who IMO is just average(nothing compared to Minotauro in submissions) and the second against Arlovski (who Mirko Cro Cop easily outshines against in striking)

I think it's dangerous to compare Sylvia's opponents to PRIDE fighters in terms of "striking and submissions." What happened against Mir was freakishly fast and a mistake on Tim's part. Can Nog tap Tim? probably...

I do agree with you that Fedor having a tall brother with good striking skills (actually, I think Alex's striking is better than Tim's) is a benefit to Fedor, but it's not enough to have just a tall sparring partner with good striking skills. What they'd have to do is study video tape of Sylvia's standup and then have Alex emulate those striking habits to accustom Fedor to the type of fight Sylvia would present.

no, the reason that fedor would win is that he's freakishly strong, and would most likely knock tim out. and i don't see tim doing the same to fedor.

The real reason Fedor would win is the same reason he always wins he out gameplans his opponent, not to mention has better skills.

Alex is an exellent boxer. You can't take anything away from him in that department. His ground game and cardio needs a lot of work. I never seen Fedor vs Alex vid with striking. But if Fedor can handle his brother's standup he gets even more respect from me. Which I didn't think was possilbe.
