Oh yea the UFC belt doesnt mean shit, considering they only hire good fighters if they will fight for shit money

I think he would be fighting comparable fighters in the UFC...
Besides a couple of buildup fights against weaker opponents, he will fight Chuck and probably Babalu, maybe even Tito.
Apart from a rematch with Arona, or someone else he has already beat, who is he likely to get an exciting matchup with? I can see him fighting a lot more Japanese cans...
I think the quality of fights he would get in the UFC would be comparable or superior to those he'll get in Pride, where he won't likely get a title shot.

Yeah, I had my doubts too. I would have liked to have seen the rematch.

Look at what a great decision it was for Herring to turn down the UFC and go to K-1.

I was figuring Rampage to be an IFL-kinda guy.

And what's he going to do when K-1 gives him the boot? He lost to Greco and k-1 management is pissed at his actions in and out of the ring during the Nakao fight. Now he has no leverage, more losses to mediocre figters, so now neither Pride nor the UFC wants him. He managed to Terrel Owens himself out of the big leagues right into career suicide.
If he had went to the UFC he'd be in line for a title shot, taking at least 3 fights a year, and a Xyience contract.

I disagree with the person that said it's likely Pride will drop Rampage. If that was the case, wouldn't they feed him to some up-and-comer in his last few fights to boost the other person's record?
Instead, he's been given subpar Asian opponents in his last fight and his upcoming fight, that he can look really good plowing through.

And with Rampage most likely beating the crap out of Dong Sik, Pride isn't going to "drop" someone whose just won a fight. Let alone someone who has an established history of prosper with the organization. Pride isn't like the UFC where they drop long-time fighters after a victory. Common man.

Like how Pride fed Yokoi to Herring just before they dumped his ass?

I've tried not to set my hopes up high on Rampage coming to the UFC. Because as much as I would love to see how Rampage would do in the Octagon, it's gonna be hard for the UFC to compete with Japan considering the tax thing as the threadstarter brought up. Even if the UFC was able to match a PRIDE contract, the lack of taxes in Japan would make PRIDE's offer 30-40% better than the UFCs.
The only way I could see the UFC even getting close to getting Rampage is if they were somehow able to get him involved with TUF 4 as a coach or something. Because that would guarantee Rampage not only exposure and instant stardom but also the biggest sponsors. Outside of something like that I don't see how the UFC could land Rampage.
Rampage has also stated in interviews that he might consider the UFC if he knew they were interested in promoting him rather than just trying to match him up with Liddell right away.

Disclaimer; I probably fall under the wishful thinking category, but:
I wouldn't be so sure. With Randy leaving, that opens up some money to pay out. Also, he admitted that he would get more money from sponsors with the UFC, which would suffice for the "no tax" in Pride. In regards to the whole Xyience thing, I believe he said that they have a lockdown on the supplements, not the entire sponsorship (look at Sprawl, KTFO, and all of the other logos which still litter fighters shorts and the octagon), though it was still kind of a turn off for him.
Plus, at the end of the radio show, JG talked about Rampage fighting lil nog at the Staple Center. Now that could mean Pride is coming to the US, but JG sounded like it wasn't that simple, but he wouldn't elaborate.

ufc's lhw division looks preety gay rite now. we got chuck, babalu and now ortiz. when chuck vs babalu happens, its mostly downhill from there for ufc's lhw dev.. rampage has nothing to gain there. pride's lhw is stacked, the best fighters are there. why be first in a village when you can go fight the big boys for serious money.
