Quarry vs. Sell replay

I was rewatching the UFN on Spike last night and this fight came on. I didn't remember much about it at all so it was like watching it all over again. Anyway, Quarry knocks Sell down (and out, somewhat) and the ref jumps in to stop the fight.

On the replay, guess who the ref was? Cecil Peoples?!?! Are you serious? He was standing behind Quarry when Sell went down, and he couldn't possibly have seen if Pete was out or not, yet jumped in to stop it. I'm always in favour of the ref's decision (Quarry was getting booed like crazy, UFC fans were fickle back in the day) but man, between his terrible judging and this bad call, I just don't know what to think of him anymore.

Rogan thought there could be a case for the fight being stopped, I totally agree. I really didn't know Cecil was a ref back in the day. (back in the day is relative I guess, but this was an older fight if memory serves me right)

Did anyone catch the replay last night? I didn't finish watching the rest of the card, had to work early.

Cecil Peoples should be match-maker.

Probably one of the most awkward moments in a fight. Three men laying on top of each other.

I think it was an UFN on 8/6/2005. The card was headlined by Nate Marquardt winning a UD over Ivan Salaverry. I thought the Bonner/Hoger(Bonner UD) and Cote/Leben(Leben Split) matches were both pretty decent.

Anyway, Peoples definitely stopped the match much too early, IMO. Quarry knocked Sell down hard right away - at that point, Peoples already began to stop the fight. Quarry then hit a grounded Sell with one good right in the face that Sell was unable to block, but Peoples was already on top. In all probability, Quarry would have knocked Sell out very shortly, but Peoples could have let it last an extra punch or two.
