Well, AMericans do know the Shamrock and Gracie names, and it was the first sanctioned MMA card in California.

That being said, if PRIDE advertises the Vegas card correctly, they should have little problem selling out in Vegas. But they're going to have to put effort into it.

You're underestimating the appeal of watching the first sanctioned show in California history, as well as the extremely smart, built in fan-base that is there. They were rabid for an MMA show, and it showed. Plus, that was a strong card with Frank Shamrock headlining.

sad but true....whenever a lot of my buddies bring up a conversation about mma i just sit back and dont even bother....its about the equivilent of talking to my girlfriend about her old cheerleading routines. other than skirts, flips and booty shakin, i have no idea what the hell any of it means.

Yeah this show was phenominal (no vitor pun intended.)

The final 4 are going to be amazing. Every fighter is well rounded. Every fighter in the finals will be able to wreck shop.

The undercard fights were wicked. How about Pawel Nastula??? He came out with fury! I was really surprised. His GNP looked very strong. His punches from the mount had alot of power behind them.

The Heavyweight depth of Pride's stock really shined here.

Pride will sell out Vegas. Just you watch and see.
Pride won't come near. They will be lucky to pull half.

Strikeforce had the following going for it:

1. 1st MMA show sanctioned in California. The 1st chance for California fans, admittedly rabid MMA'ers, to see a show that wasn't on a reservation. Many went just to be part of that historic event.

2. Two MAJOR us mma names headling in Shamrock vs. Gracie. It didn't matter that it was Frank vs. Ceasar. Those names sold tickets.

3. An undercard specifically set up to draw local interest/attention. San Jose represented to the fullest.

Strikeforce then suffered an 8,000 fans drop-off on there 2nd card, headlined by Pride fighters and filled out again with local interest guys.

I loved this PPV. I do like the entrances though. Still waiting for Wanderlei's entrance to be shown on an American braodcast. THe PPV was worth the $35 but I think the outcomes of all the fights were relatively predictable. Still an awesom card.

8/10

I think the Las Vegas show will sell out.

Fedor will be fighting the GP champion. If you dont travel across the country to watch that.... then you cant call yourself an MMA fan.

Im going to go to it from Dallas TX with 5 people. If no one else does, that will be the biggest shame in MMA history.

They'll sell out and at least pull half. I bet half this forum will fly down there just to watch it I know I'm probably going to go with a group of about 30 and I live completely on the other side of the country. We can sig bet on it if you want.

They scheduled the US debut on the same weekend as my 10 yr high school reunion which will definitely hurt attendance at the event.
