PRIDE Hits a Home Run
With the last events drawing speculation to the production values for the American PPVs, I must say that PRIDE hit this one out of the park.
They said themselves that there were trying to find the perfect balance of fights to "filler" ratio. I think they hit this one right on the head. No repeatitive build ups for fights on the card that the veiwer already purchased, advertisements for upcoming events were short and sweet and not over done, enterences were short to minium and it was all about the fights.
The build up for Wanderlei was tastefully done (except when they said that he chased away competion to other organizations, then cut to saku and rampage [that is a whole thread on its own]) and added a nice intermission to the show, yet built up the remaining fights.
The veiwer wasnt subject to the same promotions or same fighter excerpts showed repeatively as been done many times on past events. Instead they got interesting interviews, not too lengthy, with the fighters before the fight, and after the fight. A nice touch added to this show.
I think PRIDE, the editors, or who ever was responcible for the American broadcast did a tremendous job and deserves a pat on the back!
Not to mention there was not a boring fight on the card. That is just a bonus to a tremendous show. I know I was entertained from start to finish. If they were looking for a balance between build ups, interviews, entrances and fights, I think they found it!
I think it was worth the the delay in times because they really got this one right.
Well done!
