PRIDE doesnt seem like a company in trouble.

There been alot of speculation lately about pride's financial state after losing their deal with fuji tv. Their critical countdown show was noticably scaled down and they have lost a few key fighters (page, saku). Other companies have gone on record as saying they think pride is in trouble (although i believe this is just other companies taking shots at them while theyre down)

despite all this though, they still seem to be signing new fighters every week. Plus, their american invasion is finally happening after years of talking. This american show is a real gamble and hardly seems like something a struggling company would attempt. If they are truly in money trouble this would be almost suicide if it failed.

Has the worst of their problems past or are their darker days ahead?

One can only speculate.

I think that FujiTv dropping Pride was the best thing that could have happened for Pride. Now Pride is on cable in Brazil, on TV in Korea, entering the Chinese market, and coming to the U.S.

It has freed them up to move into many different markets. Before they didn't care or want to expand. Now they have to expand, and it is great for Pride, and the fans. Fedor said that he was surprised that in Korea his fights are on TV almost every day. Nog said that even people who aren't MMA fans in Brazil now watch Pride on cable there.

Pride is taking over the world! Thank you FujiTv!

Exactly. Though - I hope for the best. No doubt about that. They continue to make amazing cards, and the only way that will continue is if they are well off financially.

The "American Invasion" will hopefully be a success. If it's not, they will hopefully just cut their losses, go back to Japan, and continue to put on amazing cards with the rules they prefer.

Why are you leaving out Korea, Brazil, Europe, China? DSE said that they are either in those markets now, or will be very soon. The U.S. market is not the world, my friend. It is not even the biggest MMA market, at all.

DSE will never crawl back to Japan, they are already doing well in many other countries. Pride is the future of worldwide MMA. Name one product the Japanese have failed at globally. Hell, they have taken over industry after industry, so why do you underestimate them now?

I think you took my post completely wrong. I have never and will never underestimate DSE. I think what they are doing is amazing for us fans and the sport. All I was saying is that 'if' it fails here in the US (like so many people are predicting), it won't matter since it's so well received in Japan. I wasn't referring to any of the other markets they are entering. That's fantastic that they are doing it. We all know that MMA and combat sports do better almost everywhere else than the USA.

Anyway - if it fails here in America, then I'm glad I'm there for their failure. I look forwad to being at the event. Worth every cent.

According to press releases, Fedor and Nog interviews, and DSE statements. They really want to expand all over the world now that they have to replace the FujiTV money. And so far they are doing it.

If Pride was going down, fighters would be leaving for other orgs, but the events are still amazing. Like the threadstarter said, they sure don't seem like they are in trouble. When Nog said that Pride got onto cable in Brazil, and it was attracting many people that aren't even MMA fans, you know Pride is taking off.

DSE has no choice, they have to enter new markets to replace the lost revenue FujiTV cost them. Do the Japanese ever give up and die? That is why I say that losing that TV contract was the best thing to ever happen to Pride. It has made them stronger and more global.
