It's a lot like the situation with Mike Tyson in boxing. A very explosive early career that mesmorized many people.

leben is p4p one of the best of all time and a tremendous role model, but i think fighting at 185 is holding him back

For some people - they think he's great and the man... not sure about the man love thing that goes on

But I have to argue with this point by noting that I think the majority of Sharedoggers come out of the wood work to jump on the Vitor hate wagon these days and blindly overlook his current skills and age.... its not that he may ever be great but his talent is superb his head isn't always there and his conditioning lets him down consistently - its really that simple

People are just ignoring the reality of issues and fights here to say that he sucks and is boreing and has no future.... His fights with Chukc, Tito and Alistair #2 all could have gone the other way very easily and were alot closer than people tend to remember at this point. Had Vitor not totally gassed or been screwed by judges in those fights - this thread would be flamed by idiots who thinks he's unbeatable... but the reality is that when he does fight top talen outside of Couture, he competes very very evenly with it and give strong account of his skills but seems to find a way to lose...

He's not bad and alot better than what alot of the haters would have you beleive... the fan boy stuff is stupid too though - I have no explanation for that... but Vitor is more than capable and feed him more B or C level fighters in the next year and I can almost guarantee that the hater's view of him changes

I support Vitor among a # of other fighters who have recent losses. Andrei Arlovski apparently had the most fickle "fans" in MMA history. Murilo Ninja is still young, talented, and trains with a great team, he has a great chance to rebound from his back to back losses. If Kharitonov can make a full recovery from his injury he will be right back near the top again. Bustamante, despite being past his prime, is still very solid. A loss to Suloev, who is both very underrated and a bad matchup style wise for Busta, could not possibly discredit the fact that Busta argueably defeated Hendo, Liddell, AND Rampage, in addition to schooling Lindland in a manner more dominating than Franklin, A. Silva, Hendo, or Filho could ever hope to.

I, for one, have respect for Vitor fans bcoz they're not fickle bandwagon hoppers like Arlovski, Ninja, and Loiseau "fans" have been. Vitor still has enough fight left in him to obliterate any non-top tier opponent. Losing to A-level opponents doesn't mean that you don't deserve a bandwagon.

Vitor has had some amazing fights...i just watched the Vitor/Tito fight, where Vitor whipped Tito the first 2 rounds and lost the 3rd round, and Tito got the decision. pissed me off AGAIN watching that fight-
