Philadelphia Radio Show Host Blasts The UFC
Steve Martorano of Philadelphia's 610 WIP, trashed the UFC claiming the usual: it is nothing but a bar room brawl, the athletes are unskilled thugs, anyone who is an athlete would be able to do it easily with limited to no training! This is not the first time Martorano has done this, he consistently uses the Prometheus approach of talking first and then thinking about his comments later. He has been a seasoned veteran of educated-foolish statements. And although he was making these uninformed statements, I must salute all the callers who informed him of the facts which he expectedly avoided by making sarcastic remarks. It seemed as if everyone that called on the subject was in support of the UFC so it is great to see the education level of the fans of MMA, and the ignorance of many sports talk show hosts.
If anyone would like to send an email to WIP about this matter send it to wippromotions@cbsradio.com

David Lee roth had Ken Shamrock on right before UFC 59 on 94.1... before he was taken off the air. The guys that replaced him brought up MMA and spoke pretty negatively about it. (i also live in iladelphia.
Moral of the story is, anyone who talks that kind of shit about MMA is obviously uninformed.

Yeah, that is a consistent theme. Deutsch, however was at least willing to listen and was being respectful to Dana White & co. when he had them on.

Is this guy new at WIP? I never heard of him before. Howard Eskin is the man just because he is the most pompous asshole I have ever heard.

That's what I don't understand about the people. We can judge a subject without any real knowledge about it and act like it's a true fact. Then other people hear this bullshit and believe it. And the circle goes on and on.

He has been on and off WIP, but he just got his job back with WIP after Mike Missinelli was fired for punching his producer. Seems like the talk show hosts are acting more like a bunch of bar room brawlers than fighters from the UFC from my perspective.

Tim Sylvia obeys all the rules of the UFC, trains as hard as anyone in the UFC, has a high school wrestling background and has been training in MMA since he graduated high school. His takedown defense is excellent which is why almost all of his fights remain standing.
