Paulo Filho, the real deal?

I've been doing some research on this guy and I have to say im impressed. besides the obvious 15-0 record and and being the WEC middleweight champion, Filho really seems like he's gonna be a dominant fighter for some time. I havent seen any of his fights but I am looking forward to watching his title defense against Chael Sonnen. I have heard his name thrown around a lot as being the #2 and possibly #1 best middleweight in the world. I dont know a whole lot about the guy so maybe somebody could gimme a little insight on him. Im curious about a couple of things.

1. Do you think Filho has earned the rank of #2 middleweight in the world?

2. If he were to fight Anderson Silva, is he good enough and could he dethrone The Spider?

1. Id give that to Hendo. Fihlo is #3 though.

2. You may not know, but Fihlo will likely never face AS, they are friends. But if they did fight I think Anderson takes it.

1. yes. he dominated Misaki coming off of wins over Hendo and Baroni, and then after Filho destroys him Misaki still manages to beat Kang. he has beat Ninja, Doerkson, Chonan, and Suloev all very solid fighters, and in addition has wins old wins over Kondo, Shoji, Matsui, and Minowa, all while staying undefeated.

2. no one can tell. Filho has struggled in a lot of fights and dominated in others. he has great takedowns and decent stand up on top of really dominating jiujutsu positioning, and he obviously has a great armbar. he's pretty sound on the feet but he doesn't really have any natural talents as a striker. one guy will probably dominate this fight. If Filho can take Anderson down into side control, he can dominate, he's not the type of fighter Anderson will have an easy time working back into guard and controlling. but on the feet, Anderson's distance and timing striking will throw Filho way off. a fight with Sonnen will be a good indicator of how Filho could do against Anderson because it will test his wrestling. overall, if you want to see someone beat Anderson, Henderson's a better bet. also, Filho and Anderson are friends.

Would he have a decent shot at beating Hendo? I've always looked at Hendo as a lighter version of randy couture but with better stand up. Filho vs. Hendo might be a classic as well.

He's good, but someone with good sprawl and brawl will probably light him up eventually.

Well, eventually im going to learn about him one way or another. My reasoning behind starting this thread is like anyone else. I enjoy sharing my opinions with others and getting other peoples thoughts on a topic.

1. Fhilo diserves to be ranked #2 he is undefeated and he has beaten tough opponents. He also has the tools to pwn Hendo. Tools- Black belt in Judo and BJJ.

2. They would never fight since they were once team mates and are still friends but if they did I would go with Fhilo due to his superior ground technique and strength.
