I won't deny that I'm in love with Silva. How could I when he's such a dream.
But seriously, although Silva chose not to engage very often, which was extremely frustrating to watch, he didn't look bad.
Its not as if he was ever in trouble in the fight.
Its not as if he didnt land every single thing he threw.
Its not as if he looked like his skills had regressed and maybe we were all over rating him.
He just fought boring.
At one point he offered Cote a hand to get up.
As far as skills are concerned, I thought it was one of his best displays ever.
Like I said, he truly looked untouchable.

Fedor is a far better wrestler and submission artist than Silva. It can be argued that Silva is a better striker than Fedor, but when you're beating guys like Crocop and Sylvia while standing it's hard to say that anyone is better at it than you. Let Silva fight Manhoef and then we'll see how good his standup is. For one thing, MMA is about being well-rounded, and GSP is more well rounded than Silva.

Everybody knows Fedor is the best in the world. Iwas so surprised when Sherdog had him at number 3.

My first MMA event was UFC 1 via blockbuster video 3 months after it came out. Biased UFC fans (yes there are some of those) often pre-date biased Pride fans.

Silva did suck that night. Even if he was palying around or not. Cote should have been KO'd

Right. I mean, even Lunacyfrog, Silva's biggest fan on Sherdog, believes that Fedor at his best was better than Silva at his best. So the question is: Who's more likely to have declined? Based on their last fight, the answer has to be Silva.

Apparently, everyone doesn't "know" it.
The people participating in the open ESPN poll didn't know it either, since they voted for Silva first and Fedor second.
Every ranking I have seen over the past 6-8 months has also not known it, since Silva is consistently listed at #1.

That last one is where I disagree. The margin of his win was just not that big. And he was facing a very lightly regarded opponent. So in that sense, he looked bad. I'm concerned that he showed signs of being unable to pull the trigger, which in boxing is the first sign of aging. I suspect that Silva is the type of fighter who, when he loses it, he'll lose it fast. I predict that he will be upset in 2009, and I'd be willing to make a sig bet to that effect.

Not quite what I said.
Fedor at his best v. Silva at his best is a tough one.
I think Silva's current run is comparable to Fedor circa 2003-2005.
What I did say is that Fedor's career accomplishments are more impressive than Silva's or anyone else's.
Currently the fighter that has shown the most talent, to me, is Silva.
And also I don't hate Fedor.
He's the man. GOAT. Much props.

Well, we saw different things then. What I saw was a guy who had destroyed his last opponent in 1 minute trying to give the fans a show and it backfired on him.
I don't think his hesitancy to pull the trigger had anything to do with fear of Cote or the loss of a step, but to each his own.
