The outcome of Crocop v. Couture will look like Crocop v. Yoshida
Randy Couture compares very well with Hidehiko Yoshida.
- Both are world class grapplers in their own disciplines:
Randy = Greco-roman wrestling ; Yoshida = Judo
Judo and Greco Roman Wrestling both involve upperbody throws
- Both are primarily grapplers that can throw down when the moment calls for it
- Both are natural light-heavyweights and small heavyweights.
They are both around 220-230 lbs.
- Both fought and lost to wild punching light-heavyweight strikers w/ tattoos on their heads:
Randy - Chuck ; Yoshida - Wandy
- Both have wins over freakishly large super-heavyweights strikers:
Yoshida - Hunt ; Randy - Silvia
Looking at their similar skills and opponents, Crocop will really hurt Couture.
Crocop will keep Randy at a comfortable distance with low kicks and good take down defence.
Also people think that the LHK is Crocop's best weapon but they forget that he has a very crisp right jab, straight left and nasty low and body kicks.
Randy is basically a larger version of Matt Lindland with better striking and cardio.
He does a very good job of crowding his opponents and taking the fight to the ground.
However, Randy does not have a good enough ground and pound to keep Mirko on his back.
People really buy into how Randy has great GNP, but the truth of the matter is he doesn't.
He is active on top but does not throw really hard punches when he's in the guard.
Also, if Fedor couldn't finish Crocop on the ground... enough said
Mirko is also very good at neutralizing his opponents when he's on his back.
In the UFC, championship fights are five 5 minute rounds; not 10, 5 and 5
There's no 10 minute round so Randy's cardio advantage only plays a part in the later rounds.

Amidst all the evidence, let's not forget what recently happened to the comic book Captain America. It might just be a sign.
