Old school fans

People who registered in 2002, 2001, don't come that often here anymore.

Anyways, if you've been following the sport for a long long time, you probably have noticed some keen patterns in the movement of fighters.

UFC's always been a place of outflux, where fighters made it big for a short period of time, and ended up going onto smaller shows.

For a very long time pride was the bottom feeder, taking old ufc fighters who might still have a big name.

So many names there's no point in listing em.

But now you have this huge influx of fighters back into the ufc.

it didn't start with the wfa acquisition, it started with the re-signing of penn, ortiz.

But from then on, you have an overlap of talent that has happened faster than any "switching of fighters" between orgs.

Within a two and a half year period, you have more fighters who previously fought in the ufc fighting in pride, and fighters who previously fought in pride fighting in the ufc,

in sum, more quickly than in any other period since the pride inauguration.

The mixing and exchanging of talent is happening quicker than ever before.

We always knew pride was pretty much accumilated majorly of ufc veterans. but only recently have you seen the reverse happen.

In essence, the boundaries between the two organizations are seriously beginning to dissappear. And of course this is a good thing.

You can no longer label a fighter to an organization. Well atleast it's becoming harder to do so.

Hmm very interesting observation. It's true, you cant really name a fighter to an organization anymore. But seeing how Sherdog is, they will make it into another UFC vs Pride thread. Good post though.

Good post.. hopefully as Josh Gross often mentions the promoters start cooperating, making "supercards" soon. That would be awesome.

Wow so much reading so little info. Pride had big names just not big names in the US so you only recognized the old ufc ones. But in the beg. pride had experts in many various art forms to see which ones worked best or at least to see them in action. That was pretty much the reason for mma over there seeing how big martial arts was they wanted to see effectiveness. Know that every1 knows what works it turned mma into its own style which we now watch today. Kind of sad though seeing how old pride looked a lot more traditional styles pitted against each other like a good japanese movie.

If the bringing in of gomi to the ufc is true, it would further support the trend.

Phil Baroni
Heath Herring
Mirko Cro-Cop
Jens Pulver
Assuerio Silva
Aaron Riley
Nick Diaz
Robbie Lawler
Rampage
Yves Edwards
Anderson Silva
Josh Barnett
Dean Lister
Pedro Rizzo

etc.

I rest my case.

who cares where they go as long as there is comp. for them there it just seems recently and sometimes in the past fighters seem to go where they feel there is less comp. which is a sad thing for mma.
